I took a couple of photos a few days ago whilst on a walk. I couldn’t resist the steely tones and contrasts created by the low sun and a passing shower. I felt like I was in “The Twilight Zone.” I had the path to myself because of the rain. This is looking towards the West and Auckland city centre.
A group of gulls and a white-faced heron lined up by a stormwater caught my attention. They were waiting for young eels to go past. Pandemonium and lots of squawking ensued when one of the birds plucked a very wriggly eel from the rush of water. Most of the eels seemed able to thrash and wriggle their way out of beaks and back into the water!
