A stroll along the coast in the rain

I took a couple of photos a few days ago whilst on a walk. I couldn’t resist the steely tones and contrasts created by the low sun and a passing shower. I felt like I was in “The Twilight Zone.” I had the path to myself because of the rain. This is looking towards the West and Auckland city centre.

A group of gulls and a white-faced heron lined up by a stormwater caught my attention. They were waiting for young eels to go past. Pandemonium and lots of squawking ensued when one of the birds plucked a very wriggly eel from the rush of water. Most of the eels seemed able to thrash and wriggle their way out of beaks and back into the water! Samsung April 2013 627

Finally a rainbow. Looking back towards St Heliers (East) Lots like someone on the cliffs had a pot of gold in their midst.
